Parents and Students, 

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! We are excited for this year and want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we embark on this unique opening of the school year.  As we do our best to continue to deliver instruction to our students during this fall semester, we, in the World Languages Department, would like to inform you that we will be using ZOOM to provide live lessons and SCHOOLOGY  to post and have assignments turned in for our students across all Spanish classes. 

We understand that navigating these unprecedented times might be a challenge, but it is also an opportunity for students to explore new technologies, develop independent study habits, and practice responsibility.  Rest assured that we will be here with them every step of the way.  It is our goal to be as available to your child as we can to provide continuity of instruction that attempts to mimic what we would be doing in class if we were together.  Because communication is key,  we will be sending out information on a regular basis through the platforms mentioned above and are available to answer any questions your child may have.

Mondays are specifically designated to help students with questions and any assignments where they may have fallen behind. So please make sure your child is attending the Zoom Sessions in their classes. Lessons and assignments are due on the due date posted in Schoology. The use of the Schoology Calendar can be very helpful in helping students keep track of their assignments.

In addition, your child should be creating a routine and setting up a schedule daily for school work.  Maintaining a regular schedule with a consistent start to the day, study time, reading time, creative time, and exercise is very important.  Visual schedules are helpful, and you can do something as simple as writing down the schedule for the day on a piece of paper or a whiteboard.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we all navigate this new experience.  We are looking forward to being together in our regular classroom again before too long.

¡Bienvenido de nuevo al año escolar 2020-2021! Estamos emocionados por comenzar este año y queremos agradecerles su paciencia y comprensión mientras nos embarcamos en esta apertura única del año escolar. Mientras hacemos nuestro mejor esfuerzo para continuar brindando instrucción a nuestros estudiantes durante este semestre de otoño, a nosotros, en el Departamento de Idiomas del Mundo, nos gustaría informarle que usaremos ZOOM para brindar lecciones en vivo y SCHOOLOGY para publicar y entregar las tareas para nuestros estudiantes en todas las clases de español.

Entendemos que navegar estos tiempos sin precedentes puede ser un desafío, pero también es una oportunidad para que los estudiantes exploren nuevas tecnologías, desarrollen hábitos de estudio independientes y practiquen la responsabilidad. Tenga la seguridad de que estaremos aquí con ellos en cada paso del camino. Nuestro objetivo es estar tan disponibles para su hijo como podamos para brindarle una continuidad de instrucción que intente imitar lo que estaríamos haciendo en clase si estuviéramos juntos. Debido a que la comunicación es clave, estaremos enviando información de manera regular a través de las plataformas mencionadas anteriormente y estamos disponibles para responder cualquier pregunta que su hijo pueda tener.

Los lunes están específicamente designados para ayudar a los estudiantes con preguntas y cualquier tarea en la que se hayan retrasado. Así que asegúrese de que su hijo asista a las sesiones de Zoom en sus clases. Las lecciones y las asignaciones deben ser entregadas en la fecha de vencimiento publicada en Schoology. El uso del Calendario de Schoology puede ser muy útil para ayudar a los estudiantes a realizar un seguimiento de sus asignaciones.

Además, su hijo debe crear una rutina y establecer un horario diario para el trabajo escolar. Es muy importante mantener un horario regular con un comienzo constante del día, tiempo de estudio, tiempo de lectura, tiempo creativo y ejercicio. Los horarios visuales son útiles y puede hacer algo tan simple como escribir el horario del día en una hoja de papel o en una pizarra.
